So many of us have been hearing about
domain name and don't really know what its actually mean.a website home url is the
domain name of that website.a domain name is seen as the road map to a website address, i.e. before you can get to view a website contents, you must pass through its web address called a
domain name. so for those who don't really know what i mean, today i will share with you on
what is a domain name
so what is a domain name
a domain name is the name of a website address through which people can visit and view the content of that website.it is like a street address which you will follow to locate a house called the domain.
note that a domain name is different from
web hosting in the sense that web hosting is seen as the land uppon which the house is been built (domain) been hosted.

without a webhosting, a domain name will not function cause the content of that website will be hosted on the webhost.so a domain name is simply the name you will type to visit a website e.g
www.gurubest.com,
www.google.com, www.yahoo.com are good example of a domain name.the name of a site also serve as a means to identify the website and its brand.
before a website can be up and running, the first thing one will do is to register a domain name for such site to function.so no one can register another person's domain cause a domain can only be one world wide.
so just like every other internet stuff, a domain name has expiring date which may be up to 1 year, so if it is not renew before the expiring date, some one can now go ahead and register it and it will no more be yours.
so you have to protect your domain name by keeping close watch on both the login details and when it will expires.that's all, ENJOY.
