After the lunch of
BBM for android, many people are having problem installing
BBM for android on ginger bread 2.3 phone.well, i was able to get bbm working on android phone running ginger bread 2.3 after series of rooting, upgrading and testing of compatible ROM.normally, bbm for android is not compatible with android version 2.3 which got so many people stuck.so if you are still having problem installing it, then in this post i will share with you on what i did to get
BBM for android working on android phone that is running ginger bread 2.3 ( htc inspired/desire HD as example )
in this post, i am going to use
HTC desire/inspired 4G or HD as example because that's the phone i tested it on, so i believe it will also work on other android phone or device that is running ginger bread.the process involve rooting and installing of updated android ROM from 4.0 and above.i made use of jellybean ROM which is 4.2 and it was working perfectly well.here is a step on how i did it

note that this process involve rooting and if you brick your phone as a result of this, i am not to be held responsible.i did it and it worked for me, i believe it should also work for you if done the right way.
you will have to unlock your phone bootloader if using htc,sony experia, google nesus etc but if using tecno android phones and other china product running mediatek hardware, you don't need to unlock bootloader, all you need to do is to flash recovery like
clockworkmod or
TWRP.for the purpose of this tutorial, i shall be using htc inspired/desire HD
==> first thing to do is unlocking of bootloader, read my previous post on how to unlock htc android phone bootloader

==> after rooting and clockwork mod installed successfully, you will have to download a compatible ROM for your phone, i will recommend the ROM i used which you can download via this link

==> after downloading, connect the phone to your computer and transfer the ROM to the root of your sd card, not inside any folder
==> after transferring the ROM, switch off the phone and remove the battery, then insert back.press
VOLUME down key and power button until it enters bootloader mode, from there, choose recovery and wait for it to enter recovery mode.
==> from recovery, use volume up or down to move and power button to select.now select
wipe data/factory reset, it will pop up a menu, scroll to yes and select it.
secondly, choose
wipe caches partitions and choose yes to wipe
thirdly, scroll to advance and choose
wipe delvik caches and select yes to wipe.after that, go back to main menu.
==> from the main menu, choose install zip from sd card=>choose zip from sd card.the search for the ROM you transfered and select it and choose yes.it will start the flashing process, just wait for it to complete.
==> after flashing is done, go back to main menu and choose reboot system.the phone will restart and the new ROM will start installing.it may take some time since it's new.
==> after installing, you will have to flash GAPP packages.this means Google packages to enable you use google play store.since it is android version 4.2 you installed, then you have to download GAPP for it.do not download GAPP that is meant for 2.3 else it may brick the phone, so visit the link and download GAPP packages

==> after downloading, transfer it to the phone sd card and use same process used to flash ROM but this time do not wipe any partition, just flash the GAPP straight away and reboot the phone.
==> when restarting, you will have to feel your details on the setup, do that and when done, open google play and search for
BBM for android and install it.it will start working.that's how i got it working on android phone that is running ginger bread 2.3.
