Unlocking bootloader on htc android phone will enable you to flash custom ROM using clockwork recovery or TWRP.when it comes to rooting most latest htc android phone, the first thing to do is to
unlock the bootloader of the phone whether it is
S-ON or
S-OFF.doing this will open the security placed on it and enable you to flash updated ROM, tweaks, hacks, mods on the phone but it will void your warranty.this means the manufacturer of the phone will not give you replacement if any thing goes bad and the phone got damaged before the warranty expired.so for this reason, you are doing it at your own risk.anyway, that's by the way, so if you wish to unlock yours, then this post will guide you on
how to unlock bootloader of HTC android phone.
like i have said, this will void the warrantee of the phone.so lets get started
how to unlock bootloader of htc android phone
tools needed for bootloader unlocking
==> a computer
==> internet connection
==> ADB and FASTBOOT
==> htc drivers
==> if all is set, then visit
htcdev.com and create an account with them.
==> after creating an account, logging into your account.at the right side of the page, you will see the option to unlock bootloader.click on the get started button.
==> you will be required to select your phone from the listed phone, do that and proceed to the next step
==> from the next step, a window will pop up asking you to agree on the terms and conditions.do that and proceed.
==> from the next page, you will see some set up guide, read carefully and proceed to step 5.
==> at this stage i will assume you have installed
ADB and FASTBOOT. if not, then read my previous post on how to install adb and fastboot on your computer

==>
after installing, click proceed to step 5 button,
from the step 5 on htcdev website, you will a code "
fastboot oem get_identifier_token". copy the code and open ADB and FASTBOOT.then switch off your phone and remove the battery.insert it back and press VOLUME DOWN key and POWER ON button, it will enter bootloader mode, from there, choose
FASTBOOT from the option using POWER BUTTON and then connect the phone to your computer via USB, it will install it's drivers.if it has successfully connect, you will see USB in front of the FASTBOOT on the phone
==> to make sure that the phone is properly connected, then from ADB and FASTBOOT software, type without quotation "fastboot devices". you will see the list of devices that is connected to the computer and in front of it you will see fastboot.this means your phone has been connected properly.so you can go ahead and paste the code you copied from htcdev.to do this, right click on the window and choose paste
==> once you paste the code, then click enter, it will bring out some codes which you will have to copy starting from the point where they say
<<<<IDENTIFIER TOKEN START>>>> to the ending of the code where they said
<<<<IDENTIFIER TOKEN END>>>>. to do this, highlight the code from up to down and then right click, doing this will copy the code.
==> now still on htcdev site, you will see a box before the
SUBMIT BUTTON where you will paste the code you copied from adb command window.paste the code and click on
SUBMIT, it will generate your bootloader unlock code and send it to your email address, from your email, you will have to download it.
==> after downloading it, copy the unlock code and paste it inside the ADB and FASTBOOT folder and then rename it to unlockcode. doing it this way will make it very easy to access.
==> close the ADB and FASTBOOT command and reopen it again.for quick opening, just right click on an empty space inside the ADB and FASTBOOT folder, you will see open with command prompt, click it.now we are ready to unlock the bootloader
==> if the phone is ON, switch it off and put it in fastboot mode as usual and connect it to the computer, once connected, type fastboot devices to see if the phone has been properly connected
==> if properly connected, now type this code without quotation
"
fastboot flash unlocktoken unlockcode.bin"
==> once you type that, press enter, it will flash the unlock code to your phone, on your phone screen, it will display, it will ask you to click YES or NO, use the volume key to choose yes and power to select.
==> the phone will restart and factory reset.which means all your installed apps and settings will be wiped.
just wait for it to complete.when done, switch off the phone and enter bootloader mode, you will see the locked status will change to unlocked
NOTE: that your phone should be S-OFF for the process to be completed.if your phone is S-ON, you will have to S-off it before proceeding.please take note of it
once you see that, that means your htc android phone bootloader has been successfully unlocked.you can then go ahead and flash custom recovery like clockworkmod or TWRP.that's all, ENJOY.
