so many of us must have seen hibernate and sleep mode options when ever you want to switch off your computer and you may be wondering what they actually mean.well they are windows shutdown tools options to enable you save your computer in last state or scene before shutting down.
may be you are doing an important things with your computer and would love to save it and come back to work on it without necessarily shutting down the computer, then the only option is either to hibernate computer or keep it in sleep mode. any one you choose still does the same thing but their is a little difference between hibernating and sleep mode.
difference between hibernating and sleep option on computer.
hibernate option
this is a way of telling your computer to save what you are doing from the last scene so as to complete it latter after shutting down.maybe you are using your laptop in a public place and due to some reason, you then want to move to a more conducive spot, you could just hibernate the computer and move all your stuff like battery charger, bags etc so as to resume it from where it was.doing this will save the things you are doing in your hard drive system file called hyberfil.sys so that when you switch it ON, it will resume from the last state before it was shutdown.it does not consume battery energy like sleep mode option but consume a lot of hard disk space. while on the other hand.
sleep mode option
this is a process of keeping your computer in a stealth mode but this time, the computer will not be shutdown,it will just be in standby mode, therefore saving the last scene of what you are doing to resume it later. it will not store any file in your hard disk, rather the RAM will do the saving for it because it will be on stealth mode operating in the background till you are ready to make use of the computer.this consume a lot of battery energy because it requires it to save the last scene,it does not consume hard disk space.WARNING: too much of hibernating is not good for the computer as it reduces the hard disk space.that's all.ENJOY.

ReplyDelete@anonymous1,hibernating a computer is not bad,but too much of it reduces hard disk space.you can read my previous post on how to solve reducing hard disk space. http://www.gurubest.com/2012/03/solve-reducing-low-hard-disk-space.html
DeleteNice info.well explained.keep it up.
