olx.com.ng scam is the latest talk on the internet as many beginners on the internet are getting scammed by sellers who post their ads on
olx website.olx.com.ng is a website where buyers and sellers meet and connect in order to transact business.it is a website where any one can sell his or her property (used or brand new),it could be mobile phone, computer, laptops, Cars, Television set, Radio, electronics etc.just any thing you can think off,you can sell them on olx website by just posting the advert and if some one shows interest, you both will connect and transact the deal.so in a platform such as olx, there is bound to be fraudsters and scammer whose aim would be to scam and defraud other buyers or seller but in most case the buyers are at the mercy of the sellers because on a daily bases, new buyers are
getting scammed via olx platform and they end up saying OLX is scam.olx is never a scam but the sellers who advertised their product are the scammers out there.they list item for sale at a very ridiculous cheap price to entice the buyers and when you contact the seller, he or she will tell you to make a part payment into their bank account before they will send the product or item to your location, this is the first mistakes buyers make, never pay into any ones account unless you meet that seller in person or you have 90 percent trust on the seller,if you make payment into their account, you are on your own.if you are new or you are about to buy any product or item you see on olx.com.ng, then just hold on until you read this post because it is for your own good and will save you the pains and frustrations others are passing through. i will share with you on
OLX Scam And how to avoid getting scammed on OLX.COM.NG
just like amazon, ebay, scammers are still on those platform and olx is not an exception.
one of my internet rules is never to trust any one, not even me,yes not even me.you never can tell who you are dealing with because the internet is a public environments where any one can claim to be anything even claim to be
barack obama, the owner of facebook and google.so do not trust any one unless you want to get yourself into a deep mess.
olx platform is not an exception,so always shine your eyes.this post will give you an insight on how to detect a scammer on OLX before even doing business with them.
OLX Scam and How To Know and detect Scam On OLX.COM.NG
when you see a product with ridiculous cheap price on olx, run for your life
this is the first attraction.every one is looking for a product they can buy at an affordable price, that is why they searched for it on olx or other ads listing website.it is not bad for some one to search for dead cheap priced product or item because some people may be willing to disposed off their product fast and price it very cheap but it is rare to see such seller with genuine intent.when some thing is too good to be true, run for your life.
at time when i browse through olx website, i will see a mobile phone, Brand New Samsung Galaxy S5 being sold for #25000, i mean this is dead cheap.a car being sold for #200,000 when that same car is not sold in the (second hand used) market for such price.i mean this should alert you that it is too good to be true.so take note of ridiculous cheap priced product and items
Don't Ever Pay Into Some Ones Bank Account From Olx
if you come across a product and you have called and talk with the seller, if he or she asked you to make a part payment into their bank account before the product will be sent to you, run for your life.if you make payment, you are on your own.according to olx terms and condition, you never make payment for an item or product you see on olx platform unless you meet the seller one on one and see the product live.access the product to see if it is genuine and make the payment right there and collect your item.
even if you must meet, it should be in an open public place where people can see you,not in an hidden environment or corner of the bush side.you can meet in a restaurant, bear bar, eatery and should be a well known place for security reasons.
so have this at the back of your mind when searching for product or item to buy from olx
Connect and Speak with the seller via phone to know more on the product
distance may be a barrier but technology can help reduce such barrier.now we have mobile phone that can enable us reach some one even if that person is far from us.call any seller found on olx and other online platform and get to know more about the product.also, try and focus on the response and the way the person is talking.some scammers can be trickish but if you know your way, you can detect it from the way they respond to your questions.if it takes them too long to respond to your question, then something is fishy.
if a seller on OLX tells you he works in Nigeria Custom Service, run for your life
Nigeria Custom Service is the latest scam activities used by scammer to scam their victims.after searching for a product on olx and you have called the seller to know more about the product and he or she tells you they work in the Nigeria Custom Service, then such person is 99 percent scammer.run for your life if you come across such a seller from olx.
they make use of this to scam their victim because you may believe they actually works in the custom service and must have seized some goods which they want to disposed off.its a big FAT LIE,so run and give such person 100 yards, they are scammers
if you see a product you like and the seller is not in your location, tell some one to check them out at their location
you may find a product affordable in some part of the country but the distance is some how a barrier to meet that seller in person.if you know some one in same location of the seller, then tell the person to check them on your behalf and make transaction.this way you won't fall so cheap on scam activities.
although i always recommend doing this by yourself, because only you know what you want to buy and can access it very well before making payment.even if you must send some one on your behalf, such person should be wise not to fall mugu and also tell the person what they should check for on the product.
lastly, always meet with the seller in person before doing any business with them, don't pay into any sellers account without meeting them, insist to pay on delivery, except you have done series of business transactions with the seller in question, to gain their trust.don't make this serious mistake.
even if you must meet, it should be in an open public place where people can see you,not in an hidden environment or corner of the bush side.you can meet in a restaurant, bear bar, eatery and should be a well known place for security reasons.
people are being
scammed from sellers on OLX every day,it is not a joke, don't fall victim.be at alert and be wise.share this post with you friends on facebook and other social media website so they too can learn from it.hope it helps.you can also share your own experience with us by making use of the comment form so others can learn from it.

ReplyDeleteAlways do pay on delivery transactions. Do not pay in advance. And like this writer said, if your location far from reach , find someone in the seller's location to confirm the goods and seller's information before paying.
